New Systems: Small Explosive Runes, Charged Rods, Quest Log, and House Farming

Dear players,

Magic in Retronia has gained new forms of progression, combat, and preparation. This update introduces two entirely new systems for Sorcerers and Druids, new equipment with attributes, a fully integrated Quest Log, major improvements to Exercise Weapon training, and a special activity for players who enjoy taking care of their Houses.

Small Explosive Runes

The new Small Explosive Runes turn compatible wands into weapons capable of automatically firing runes at their targets.

  • Four versions have been added: Poison, Fire, Energy, and Explosion.
  • Each element belongs to a different progression stage, from Tier 1 to Tier 4.
  • The runes are conjured in batches of 40 and do not require blank runes.
  • Sorcerers and Druids can learn these spells from Zoltan in Edron without requiring a promotion.
  • To fire them, the player must combine a compatible wand with one of the new spellbooks.
  • The wand determines whether the shot strikes a single target or hits an area.
  • Area wands may consume more runes per shot in exchange for greater offensive power.
  • Area shots share exhaustion with offensive spells, while support spells remain independent.

New Spellbooks

The new spellbooks function as magical shields and determine which Small Explosive Rune elements can be fired.

  • Spellbook of Venomwake: allows Poison runes to be fired.
  • Spellbook of Emberfall: allows Poison and Fire runes to be fired.
  • Spellbook of Arclight: allows Poison, Fire, and Energy runes to be fired.
  • Spellbook of Abyss: allows all elements to be used, including Explosion.

Higher-tier spellbooks retain access to the elements from previous tiers, allowing each mage to choose the most suitable rune for every situation.

Rune Pouches

Three new Rune Pouches have also arrived, created specifically to store and fire Small Explosive Runes.

  • Rune Pouch: 2 slots.
  • Great Rune Pouch: 10 slots.
  • Supreme Rune Pouch: 22 slots.
  • Runes can be fired directly from inside the pouch.
  • Rune Pouches are soulbound and available in the Store.
  • The pouch itself remains protected on death, but the runes stored inside it are not protected.

Charged Rods

Charged Rods are a new weapon line exclusive to Sorcerers and Druids. Unlike traditional wands, they have their own charge reserve, which is consumed with every attack.

A total of 11 Charged Rods have been added, distributed across different elements and tiers:

  • Tier 0: Firelight Rod, Moonlight Rod, and Swamplight Rod.
  • Tier 1: Serpent Scepter Rod and Fireweaver Rod.
  • Tier 2: Stormcaller Rod and Frostwarden Rod.
  • Tier 3: Venom Rod and Archlight Rod.
  • Tier 4: Falcon Rod and Shadowfall Rod.

As the progression advances, the rods offer more powerful attacks and special properties such as poisoning, burning, electrifying, freezing, paralysis, and death damage.

Recharging Rods

Charges can be restored with the new Recharge Rod spell:

  • Magic words: exevo virtus.
  • Each cast consumes 35 mana and restores 35 charges.
  • The rod must be equipped in one of the player's hands.
  • The spell can be learned for 100 gold from spell trainers for mages.

Rarity, Attributes, and Craft

The new equipment is also integrated with Retronia's rarity and Craft systems.

  • All four new spellbooks can gain rarity and attributes through Craft.
  • Spellbooks can receive Increased Magic and different magical resistances, but cannot receive Critical.
  • Rune Pouches can also be enhanced through Craft with Increased Magic and resistances, but never Critical.
  • Rune Pouches purchased from the Store always come without random rarity. They can be upgraded later through Craft.
  • Tier 1 through Tier 4 Charged Rods can receive rarity and attributes compatible with rods.
  • The introductory Tier 0 rods remain basic equipment and cannot receive rarity.

The new rods and spellbooks have been placed throughout the world as rewards from quests and exploration. Some can be found in familiar places, while others will require players to face new challenges and mechanisms.

Quest Log

Retronia now features a fully integrated Quest Log, allowing players to follow their adventures and mission progress directly through the game client.

  • Started quests are automatically added to the Quest Log.
  • Mission names and descriptions update according to the character's actual progress.
  • The Quest Log clearly distinguishes missions in progress from completed objectives.
  • The initial catalog includes 18 major quest lines and their respective missions.
  • Tracked adventures include The Postman Missions, The Explorer Society, The Djinn War, The Pits of Inferno, The Annihilator, The Obliterator, and many others.

More quests can be integrated into the Quest Log over time, making it easier to revisit objectives, remember previous accomplishments, and continue long-running adventures.

Exercise Weapon Improvements

The Exercise Weapon training system has received a major overhaul to make training more consistent, accessible, and reliable.

  • Exercise Shields are now fully integrated and properly train Shielding.
  • Automatic training sessions now stop correctly when the player moves, attacks, casts a spell, uses an item, unequips the weapon, or runs out of charges.
  • Golden Exercise Dummies can now be used by only one player at a time.
  • Exercise training gains now respect the rates configured for each game world.
  • Exercise Weapons are now available from additional NPCs throughout the world.
  • Store prices and descriptions for Exercise Weapons have been revised.
  • Exercise Weapons purchased from the Store receive improved item protection.

Planting Pots in Houses

Houses have also received a new feature: players can now grow mushrooms using the new Planting Pot.

  • The Planting Pot can only be installed and used inside a House.
  • The mushrooms progress through different visual growth stages.
  • A new harvest becomes ready after 60 minutes.
  • Each harvest provides between 1 and 3 Crimson Mushrooms.
  • There is a small chance of finding a rare Golden Mushroom.
  • Golden Mushrooms provide a longer food regeneration duration.
  • After harvesting, a new growth cycle begins automatically.
  • Each pot supports 100 harvests before its substrate must be renewed.
  • The Planting Pot is Account Bound and available in the House Decorations section of the Store.

Prepare your spellbooks, fill your Rune Pouches, keep your rods charged, follow your adventures through the Quest Log, and explore the world in search of the new rewards. A new stage of progression has begun in Retronia.

Exercise Weapons and General Fixes

Dear players,

In this update, we have completely revised how Exercise Weapons work, as well as fixed issues related to character capacity and client interactions.

Exercise Weapons

  • There is no longer a minimum skill or Magic Level requirement to use these weapons.
  • Vocation restrictions still apply.
  • Rookstayers, Rookwardens, and characters without a vocation remain unable to use them.
  • All tiers have the same efficiency per charge. The only differences are the number of charges and the total usage time.

Efficiency per charge:

  • Melee: 7.2 hits.
  • Distance: 2.16 blood hits or 4.32 miss hits.
  • Shielding: 14.4 blocks.
  • Wand: 100 base mana spent.
  • The Exercise Shield now works correctly. It must be equipped and used directly on an Exercise Dummy.
  • The Exercise Shield no longer requires the character to receive attacks in order to train Shielding, and it cannot be used together with another shield.
  • The Golden Exercise Dummy now also grants its additional 10% bonus to the mana spent by Exercise Wands.
  • The 50% Skills Boost also works during this training and stacks with the Golden Exercise Dummy bonus.
  • Dummies continue to work normally for traditional auto-attack training. They are not exclusive to Exercise Weapons.

Charges and Prices

Exercise:
500 charges — approximately 16 minutes and 40 seconds.
2 Retronia Coins or 34,722 gold.

Durable:
1,800 charges — approximately 1 hour.
10 Retronia Coins or 125,000 gold.

Lasting:
14,400 charges — approximately 8 hours.
70 Retronia Coins or 1,000,000 gold.

These weapons can now also be purchased with gold from the corresponding NPCs in Thais, Carlin, Ab'Dendriel, Kazordoon, Edron, Venore, Darashia, Ankrahmun, and Port Hope.

Exercise Weapons purchased from the Store remain soulbound and protected upon death, returning to the Store Inbox. This also applies to older weapons originally purchased from the Store.

Versions purchased from NPCs with gold are regular items and do not have this protection.

Capacity Fixes

  • Items taken from the Purse or Store Inbox now correctly respect the character's available capacity.
  • It is no longer possible to withdraw runes or other items from the Store without having enough capacity.
  • Fixed the “ghost weight” issue that could cause Store backpacks to become extremely heavy even when empty.
  • Weight is now calculated correctly when moving items and when using nested backpacks.
  • Backpack weight reduction bonuses have not been changed. Only the incorrect weight calculation has been fixed.

Client Fix — Craft

  • Fixed item selection for Break, Ascend, and Transmute.
  • The Craft window continues to block external actions, preventing accidental movement and interactions.
  • While selecting an item, only item selection inside the inventory is enabled.

Happy training, and see you in Retronia!

Kind regards,
Retronia

Client stability, Battle List safeguard, and asset refresh

Dear players,

Improved stability during login/relog and client exit, added safe memory cleanup for long sessions, refreshed assets, and updated the client executable.

Battle List

  • Battle List no longer errors during login or relog. It now waits until your character is placed on the map before scanning for nearby creatures.

Stability and performance

  • Added periodic, safe cleanup of script memory when usage is high to curb long-session memory growth and reduce rare silent client closures.
  • Fixed a rare crash on exit or logout by shutting down background HTTP work earlier during client shutdown.

Client and assets

  • Updated client executable with the latest fixes.
  • Refreshed client assets; minor visual adjustments may be noticeable.

Explorer's Tools, classic slain visuals, and stability improvements

Dear players,

With the next Server Save: A new multi-tool is now available, along with a new slain effect. Read on to see what has changed.

New: Explorer's Tools

  • Added Explorer's Tools to the Store. It is a lightweight all-in-one utility that works as a rope, shovel, machete, and pick.

Combat and UI: classic slain experience

  • Creature deaths now include a short slain transition before on-death effects finish processing. This makes kills feel smoother and more in line with the classic experience.
  • Added the “Use classic slain effect” toggle to Options. When enabled, you will see the classic slain visuals and the legacy information bar; when disabled, the modern death visuals remain active.

Quest Fix: Obliterator

  • The Obliterator Quest levers should now work normally again after a fix related to the map Refresh Tiles system.

Kind regards,

Enhanced Gold Pouch Fix

Dear players,

For the next server save:
The Enhanced Gold Pouch now collects gold normally from humanoid monsters, but still does not collect gold from player corpses.

Hunt analyser loot tracking fixed for enhanced gold pouch

Dear players,

Coins auto-collected into the enhanced gold pouch from corpses now register correctly in the hunt analyser and loot statistics. Counts reflect the actual coins moved, preventing under- or over-reporting in session totals.

Fixes

  • Hunt analyser now tracks gold picked up by the enhanced gold pouch from corpses accurately.
  • Loot statistics use the actual collected coin amount instead of the pouch item count.
  • Loot tracking updates reliably when coins are auto-transferred from corpses into the pouch.

Kind regards,
Retronia

Ankrahmun Scarab Coin Gates: Improved Passage Handling

Dear players,

Scarab coin gates inside Ankrahmun tombs have been improved. The gates now count Scarab Coins across multiple stacks on the floor, track daily entries separately for each tomb, and show a clearer message after your first entry of the day.

Ankrahmun Tombs – Scarab Coin Gates

  • Gates now count all Scarab Coins placed on the required tile, even if they are split into multiple stacks.
  • Each tomb now tracks your daily entry cost separately.
  • Your first entry of the day into each tomb costs your level divided by 10, rounded down, with a minimum of 1 and a maximum of 100 Scarab Coins.
  • Subsequent entries into the same tomb on the same day cost the first-entry price divided by 10, rounded up.
  • Example: a level 299 character pays 29 Scarab Coins for the first entry. After that, further entries into that same tomb during the same day cost 3 Scarab Coins.
  •  A message is now shown after your first entry, informing the reduced cost for later entries.

Kind regards,

Ankrahmun Scarab Passages, Enhanced Gold Pouch, and QoL fixes

Dear players,

Ankrahmun’s scarab coin passages now can scale their coin cost by level. A new Enhanced Gold Pouch streamlines coin collection and works with Gold Converters, channeling scrolls show clean on‑screen countdowns and Cast spectator spell messages route correctly.

Ankrahmun scarab coin passages

  • All scarab coin passages in Ankrahmun (Dipthrah, Mahrdis, Morguthis, Omruc, Rahemos, Temple, Thalas, and Vashresamun) now share unified behavior.
  • The number of Scarab Coins required adjusts to your level.

Items and Store

  • New: Enhanced Gold Pouch — a high‑utility, coin‑only pouch that automatically collects coins you take or loot from creature corpses directly into the pouch.
  • If you carry Gold Converters, the pouch will automatically spend charges to convert full stacks (e.g., 100 gold → 1 platinum), reducing stack clutter.
  • The Enhanced Gold Pouch is soulbound on purchase and is supported by the Soulbound Refunder. Multiple pouches are supported. A small visual effect plays whenever coins are pulled into the pouch.
  • Enhanced Gold Pouch can be obtained from the Store, or you can also upgrade your current Gold Pouch with gold coins from the NPC Alexander in Edron.
  • House offers: eligible house‑related multi‑count offers now include a bulk x5 option with an approximate 25% discount, with prices rounded to tidy values.

Channeling and countdown visibility

  • Hometown TP Scroll, House TP Scroll, and Mailbox Scroll now show a floating second counter above your character instead of repeating chat messages, making timers easier to read and reducing chat spam.
  • Starting the mailbox summon now posts a single “Summoning Express Mailbox...” message at the start.

Casting and chat

  • Spell words typed in local tabs that support it (such as Spectators while using Cast) are now correctly recognized and routed as spell messages instead of regular chat.

Kind regards,
Retronia

Weekly Outfit Rotation with Rerolls, new Outfits and more

Dear players,

The Store now features a weekly rotating selection of outfits with a promoted discount you can reroll, 19+ new outfits were added, Numpad Enter works like Enter across the client, and you can no longer equip more than one quiver at once.

Store & Outfits

  • Weekly Outfit Rotation: The Outfits category now highlights a weekly rotation of offers. One outfit is marked as promoted with a discount, and the Store shows a live countdown for when the selection refreshes.
  • Reroll the promoted pick: A new reroll action lets you reshuffle the promoted outfit for the current week. The promotion discount starts higher and may step down with each reroll, but won’t go below a small minimum. Rerolls reset with the weekly rotation.
  • Promo bundle support: When an outfit is promoted, you can purchase a discounted bundle that covers the base outfit and enabled addons in one go. If you already own parts, you pay only for what’s missing.
  • New outfits available: 19 outfits were added, including Owl Keeper, Citizen of the Dunes, Void Master, Lion of War, Champion, Conjurer, Chaos Acolyte, Death Herald, Spirit Caller, Winter Warden, Philosopher, Grove Keeper, Festive, Pharaoh, Siege Master, Mercenary, Sinister Archer, Dream Warrior, and Percht Raider.

Controls & UI

  • Numpad Enter equals Enter: Pressing Numpad Enter now behaves exactly like Enter throughout the client. This includes confirming dialogs, submitting text fields (such as search inputs), and adding new lines in multi‑line text boxes.

Equipment

  • Quiver rule: You can no longer equip more than one quiver at the same time across your hands and ammo slots. If you already have a quiver equipped, equipping another will be blocked.

Kind regards,
Retronia
